Series Circuit In a series resistive circuit the same current flows in each resistor of the circuit. That should be intuitive. To test a two resistor series circuit measure the voltage drop across each resistor. Use ohms law to calculate current through each resistor using the value of resistance as read off resistors or schematic. If they are not equal with in the limits of tolerance specified on the resistors than one of the resistors is defective. If you have three or more resistors in series, calculate the current through each of the resistors. The resistor with a significantly different calculated current is the defective one.
